Katie Short is a Chicago-based artist, working in sculpture. Her work explores ritualistic aggression in the form of the mutation, alteration and transformation of domestic objects. She is maker but often uses destruction as a means to create. Her sculptures range from purely fabricated objects to displaced found objects and detritus. She is currently a Master of Fine Arts candidate in Ceramics at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She graduated with high honors from College For Creative Studies, in Detroit, in 2009, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture. In 2008 she participated in the AICAD New York Studio Program.
